In Loving Memory of Robben "Taz" Lawrence Sims Sr.
Robben Lawrence Sims Sr., affectionately known as "Taz," age 69, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026.
Robben was born on November 1, 1956, in Fort Thomas, Kentucky. Throughout his life, Taz was known for his sense of humor, his love for his family, and his ability to make the people around him laugh. A true jokester at heart, he loved playing pranks on his family and creating the kind of memories that will continue to bring smiles and laughter for years to come.
When Taz wasn't planning his next joke, you could often find him doing something he loved. He especially treasured time spent fishing with his son, Robbie. He also enjoyed working on his cars, tinkering around the house, and always seemed to have a project underway.
Robben dedicated many years of his career to the hotel and hospitality industry. He was highly experienced in banquet operations and served as a Purchasing Director for the Food and Beverage Department.
During his career, Robben worked for the Hyatt Corporation, including the Hyatt Orlando and the Hyatt in Savannah. His knowledge, dedication, and commitment to the hospitality industry were an important part of his professional life.
Robben had a special place in his heart for cats. He often rescued cats in need, giving them a safe and loving home. His compassion for animals was a beautiful reflection of the caring person he was.
Above all, Taz loved his family. He is survived by his partner, Lori Sims; his son, Robbie Sims; sister-in-law, Ashley; his beloved grandchildren, Liam Sims, Scarlett Sims, Noelle Sims, twins Wyatt and Madisyn Sims, and Bray "B" Sims; his mother, Sylvia Wagner; his sister, Kandee Coppala; brother-in-law, Eric Coppala; niece, Gabrielle Coppala; and nephew, Raphael Coppala.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Scott Sims.
Taz will be remembered not only for the life he lived, but for the laughter he brought into the lives of those who knew and loved him. His jokes, pranks, fishing trips, projects, and the countless moments shared with his family leave behind memories that will be treasured forever.
Robben "Taz" Sims was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. His laughter and spirit will live on through his family and everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
